On December 22, GJEPC officials took part in a workshop for MSME jewellers in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the organisation announced on its website. The event was hosted by fast-moving consumer goods business, Godrej, in partnership with the Ujjain Sarafa Association and the Chandi Sona Vyapari Association, Ujjain.

Godrej representatives spoke on the importance of security for the jewellery industry and promoted various security-related products. The GJEPC’s representatives Mithilesh Pandey and Mrunali Elle promoted a number of the Union Government MSME Ministry’s schemes for the sector including interest subvention, technology upgrading, and the Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme, among others.

The representatives also spoke about setting up Common Facility Centres and the financial assistance available for participating in exhibitions across India and abroad. Jewellers were able to voice concerns and ask questions after the session and the GJEPC took the opportunity to promote the idea of expanding into exports for growth.

The government is working to increase exports across India with its “Make in India” campaign which aims to reduce imports and increase domestic production.

The GJEPC also works to increase jewellery exports and promote the Indian jewellery industry on the global level. The GJEPC has been running an increasing number of seminars in more rural areas, as the rural jewellery industry becomes more organised and the GJEPC further strengthens its export promotional efforts.
