The GJEPC is launching its “Pratibha - Bridging the Gap” campaign in Surat in association with the Sarvajanik Education Society. The campaign aims to create over 6,000 jobs in Gujarat’s diamond and jewellery industry.

“Youngsters have a misconception about the diamond and jewellery sector,” Dinesh Navadia, the regional chairman of the GJEPC, told the Times of India. “They believe that it is all about cutting and polishing diamonds and setting jewellery in gold. But, we want to change the misconception by introducing the young blood with the vast career opportunities available in this sector.”

Navadia stated that the diamond and jewellery industry is in need of skilled manpower from industries including the arts, science, engineering, and commerce. “We have set the target of infusing more than 6,000 young talents in the diamond and jewellery sector from across the state,” explained Navadia. “The Pratibha campaign will not only cover Surat, but key cities across the state.”

Career opportunities offered through the scheme include in the diamond technology, e-commerce, software and solutions, laboratory and testing, marketing, back office, and human resources sectors of the industry.
