Following on from its seminar sessions in Indore on March 1, the GJEPC traveled to Bhopal to promote MSMEs and jewellery exports, the organisation announced on its website. The one-day programme was organised by the GJEPC, MSME-DI, Indore (part of the Union Government’s MSME Ministry), and the Madhya Pradesh Swarnakar Kalyan Samiti.

The seminar on ‘Export opportunities for cluster based MSMEs’ for jewellers was designed to create awareness about the potential of exports and how to best approach the export process. MSME-DI Indore assistant directors Nilesh Trivedi and Raj Mohnani promoted the Udyog Aadhar scheme, urging enrolment, and spoke about government initiatives for the jewellery sector.

Online sales business Team 2 Digital’s Pradeep Mahor encouraged the region’s jewellers to sell their products online and gave tips on how to do so as well as how to advertise on social media such as Facebook. Mahor coached the participants on how to target online marketing to the appropriate potential customer base.

Following the recent central government ruling to make gold hallmarking mandatory for jewellers, speaker Deepak Lodhwal explained the process and costings involved. Other speakers at the programme included assistant GST commissioner Seemant Saxena, State Bank of India representative Abhinav Tripathi, and GJEPC representative Mrunali Elle among others.

The Union Government is carrying out a range of activities to boost exports in sectors including fine jewellery as part of its ‘Make in India’ initiative. The government is also promoting MSMEs as it foresees that small businesses will drive the next wave of economic growth in India.
