After having to postpone its India International Jewellery Show due to the third wave of the pandemic, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has announced that it will now hold the trade show in February.

The GJEPC will now hold IIJS in February after postponing its January event - GJEPC- Facebook

“The most awaited gem and jewellery show is round the corner,” the GJEPC announced on Facebook on January 27, stating that it will announce the fixed new dates soon. IIJS is a fine jewellery trade show which focuses on linking Indian jewellery manufacturers with international wholesale traders, exporters, and buyers among other industry professionals to boost India’s jewellery exports.

IIJS was originally scheduled to run from January 6 to 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. However, the GJEPC voluntarily postposed the event due to the rising rate of Covid-19 at the time, especially as the international focus of the trade show meant that many buyers had to travel to India from abroad and faced travel disruption due to the pandemic. The GJEPC thanked the Jio World Convention Centre for extending its support for its decision.

The trade show had already registered a total of over 5,200 jewellery industry businesses for the event and over 10,100 visitors by December, 2021 during the first phase of its business registration, the GJEPC had announced on its website. The GJEPC had previously stated that all trade show visitors will have to show that they are double vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to participate. The organisation has promised strict health and safety measures at the event.
