From December 17 to 28, 2019, the GJEPC trained a group of customs department officials on the fundamentals of the gem and jewellery industry to increase understanding, the GJEPC announced on its website. The training took place at the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery, Delhi and included a practical session.

The program concluded with a ceremony and 15 customs appraisers and superintendents received certificates from Delhi Airport’s customs commissioner Manish Kumar. The GJEPC’s Northern Region chairman Ashok Seth and IIGJ Delhi’s chairman Rajendra Bhola also attended the event.

The GJEPC aims to increase understanding of the industry, in order to help to promote exports. As part of this work, the organisation is also holding events across India to promote its upcoming trade shows, which aim to draw international jewellery buyers.

The GJEPC will host the India International Jewellery Show Signature in Mumbai from February 13 to 16, and the International Gem and Jewellery Show in Jaipur, from April 1 to 3.
