Future Retail to focus on Big Bazaar, FBB

Future Group’s retail business, Future Retail, will continue to focus on the expansion of its Big Bazaar and Fashion Big Bazaar (FBB) stores for future growth in the Indian market.

Currently, Big Bazaar and FBB contribute around 85 percent to the company’s overall revenue. For the financial year 2018-19, Future Retail had reported a net profit of Rs 733 crore ($102.7 million) on revenue of Rs 20,165 crore.
 
Future Retail has seen a drop in footfall amid the economic slowdown and protest in the country, but is confident of a revival in the fourth quarter on the back of its expansion and cost-cutting measure.

"Our big focus is Big Bazaar and FBB—that's 85 percent of the revenues. The next big business is Easyday and there we have taken a pause in our expansion, we have quit particular geographies to ensure that the network effect that we are seeking is consolidated and we can put that business on track in terms of profitability," Rakesh Biyani, joint managing director of Future Retail, told CNBC-TV18.
 
"Last two weeks have been disturbed across the country and there has been an impact on the business. So the growth is still about the same or little lower as of now but we will have to wait and watch,” Biyani added.
 
Future Retail currently operates more than 1,550 for its brands Big Bazaar, FBB, Easyday, and Ezone, among others.
