Future Retail’s Big Bazaar to start doorstep delivery

​Big Bazaar, the hypermarket chain owned by Future Retail, has started doorstep delivery services in major cities, amid the 21-day lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Kishore Biyani-owned Big Bazaar will offer its doorstep delivery services in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Ranchi, Uttarakhand, Noida, Ghaziabad, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Faridabad, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
 
"In light of the recent announcement, we are receiving an unprecedented number of requests for doorstep delivery. There could be delay due to the restrictions on movements,” the company said in a statement.

Big Bazaar is part of Future Retail and one of the highest contributors to the company’s overall revenue. It had started its India operations in 2001 and currently has over 300 retail outlets across the country mostly in larger cities.
 
Currently, Big Bazaar and Fashion Big Bazaar contribute around 85 percent to the company’s overall revenue. For the financial year 2018-19, Future Retail had reported a net profit of Rs 733 crore ($102.7 million) on revenue of Rs 20,165 crore.
