Fashion, design, and culture specialists Vidyun Singh, Asha Kochhar, and Roma Narsinghani will hold their first ‘Conscious Design Fair’ in the capital from Saturday. The two-day interactive shopping fair aims to promote sustainable fashion and conscious consumption, according to the event’s Facebook page.

A total of 29 sustainable fashion brands will retail their latest collections at the fair including Chola, Ka-Sha, Péro, Pozruh, Pause, Dot, Pure Earth, Bodice, Anomaly, Bodice, Urvashi Kaur, Two Point Two, Naso, Manan, and I Was a Sari among others. The brand selection has been curated with a focus on luxury and bridge-to-luxury brands that use both sustainable materials and design processes.

The fair will also feature a saree swap pop-up where visitors can bring along sarees they no longer wear and swap them with other people to find something new and prevent waste.

“I have grown up for a large part of my life in Lucknow and the most beautiful thing used to be looking at my mum and her sarees and… digging into the sarees of all of the cousins… and absolutely feeling no guilt to raid their wardrobes,” said Pareina Thapar about the swap in a video on Future Collective’s Instagram, excited that the capital’s shoppers will not be able to share the same experience and give old sarees new life.

Panel discussions will also feature including a talk by Helsinki Fashion Week’s founder Evelyn Mora on how to discern whether brands are truly sustainable. Art, food, live music, interior décor, and lifestyle goods will also be on display. The event is supported by Greenlam, BMW, and Ruby Organics and is presented by Dalmia Bharat Group.
