For spring/summer 2019, French luxury footwear label Clergerie, owned by First Heritage Brands (parent company of brands including Delvaux and Sonia Rykiel), is joining forces with Lucia Liu, one of China’s best-known designers. Liu, the founder of creative studio TheBallroom, and also the editor-in-chief for fashion at T Magazine China, has reinterpreted one of Clergerie’s signature models: the split-sole platform shoes.

The shoes are decorated with embroidered motifs designed by Liu, inspired by the folk art of her native province of Sichuan. The shoes, made at Clergerie’s factory in Romans-sur-Isère, France, are embellished with floral embroidery and metallic details, hand-stitched on lambskin leather.

“We worked on contrasts, aiming to blend together a variety of elements: delicate embroidery on directional platform shoes, the colours black and white, the old and the new,” said Liu.

The collaboration features two shoe models - a pair of platform wedges (€995) and a pair of platform lace-up brogues (€895) - and will be available in February 2019 at Clergerie’s ten stores worldwide, including the one recently opened in New York, at the label’s retail corners and on its e-store, as well as at selected retailers around the world.
