Flipkart to merge customer and marketing departments with growth and monetisation

E-commerce giant Flipkart plans to merge its customer and marketing departments with growth and monetisation and will appoint senior executive Prakash Sikaria to head the segment.

Sikaria, a senior vice-president at Flipkart, will take on new responsibilities and lead key segments of the business following the internal merger including growth, marketing and new businesses, sources told the Economic Times.
“Prakash [Sikaria] has been with Flipkart since 2015 and during his time with the company, has created a significant impact by pioneering and launching impactful initiatives such as Ads, Plus, Supercoins, Games,Video, Travel and Shopsy,” wrote Flipkart’s CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy in a note to company staff, ET Bureau reported. “In addition to this responsibility, Cleartrip will continue to report to Prakash.”
The changes to the business structure will be effective from January 1, 2022, according to the internal email. Sikaria will helm the scaling-up of Flipkart’s social commerce business Shopsy. The platform launched in July, 2021 and saw its revenue grow by four times over the recent festive period.
Flipkart also appointed Myntra executive Ayyappan R as CEO of its travel business, Cleartip. Customer and marketing executive Nandita Sinha has been appointed as CEO of the business’ fashion arm, Myntra and the business’ CFO Ramesh Bafna and CMO Harish Narayanan have both resigned.
