Flipkart to launch Big Billion Days sale on October 7

E-commerce giant Flipkart has announced that it will hold its largest sale event of the year, Big Billion Days, from October 7 to 12 and aims to use the initiative to onboard both new customers and sellers.

The six-day online sale will see products in a wide range of categories heavily discounted with extra offers for Flipkart Plus members, the business said in a statement. The online event will also feature product launches, interactive features, games, and live streams to keep customers engaged. 
 
“Over the past year, in collaboration with our ecosystem partners, we’ve worked towards creating opportunities that revitalise consumer sentiment in these challenging times and revive India's economic growth,” said Flipkart’s CEO, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, ET Tech reported. 

Ahead of the sale event, Flipkart has been bolstering its logistics capacity, particularly around Haryana, to facilitate a greater volume of deliveries. The business has also been launch initiatives to onboard new sellers as part of its wider aim to reach 4.2 lakh sellers on its marketplace by December 2021.  
 
“Flipkart’s commitment to providing value to consumers, opportunities for growth for MSMEs, sellers and our lakhs of kirana partners, and employment generation through e-commerce, goes to show how the country has embraced e-commerce over the past year and a half and the Big Billion Days is our way of giving back to the community and enthuse the festive spirit across the nation,” said Krishnamurthy.
