Flipkart's Ayyappan R to head category management at Myntra
Ayyappan R will be appointed as the head of management at Myntra as a transfer from his role as head of the smartphones category at Flipkart, sources close to the matter told Economic Times Retail.
Ayyappan R will move from Flipkart to Myntra, the sources said. Ayyappan R will replace Ananya Tripathi as head of category management at Myntra. According to Tripathi’s LinkedIn profile, the account is worth $500 million (Rs 3,326 crore) in profit and loss. Tripathi has decided to move on from Myntra and will leave her role on December 10 to join the private equity firm KKR.
Ayyappan R has been credited with facilitating Flipkart’s growth in the mobile phones category to be a market leader. He will become a key executive in the online fashion major Myntra moving forward.
The transfer of Ayyappan R is the first major appointment following Myntra’s chief executive Ananth Narayanan’s transfer of boss. Narayanan now reports to Flipkart’s CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy after the business’ co-founder Binny Bansal left the business earlier in the month.
Myntra is a subsidiary of Flipkart and, along with the business’ other online fashion subsidiary Jabong, runs a dedicated fashion e-commerce site.
