Flipkart reshuffles executives, focuses on cost cutting

E-commerce giant Flipkart is focusing on cutting costs and streamlining operations and has reshuffled a number of its vice-president level executives in several key operating categories. 

Flipkart executive Ashutosh Singh Chandel will now report to Flipkart’s new businesses senior vice-president Adarsh Menon and will take on the role of business unit head of recommerce. The business’ senior vice-president of supply chain Ravish Sinha has left Flipkart, an anonymous source told the Economic Times. Flipkart does typically reevaluate its vice-president level roles and move things around approximately every three years.
 
One way Flipkart has streamline its operations is by scaling down its Quick grocery service. The business will focus on offering fresh groceries as opposed to a wider selection of fast moving consumer goods. 

“Flipkart Quick is not shutting down; it has scaled down from a few cities and continues in a couple of cities as we build a sustainable business model in quick commerce that is centred around fresh grocery,” said the business in a statement, ET Retail reported. “Flipkart is bullish about grocery and is a significant player in this category. The Supermart model today services over 1,800 towns and 10,000 pin codes and we will continue to expand.”
