Flipkart reports high fashion sales during BBD sale
Flipkart saw strong sales in its fashion category during its Big Billion Days festive sale event. The e-commerce giant saw high rates of customer acquisition in Tier 2 and 3 cities and sold three sarees a second.
Flipkart’s BBD sale saw Tier 2 and 3 shoppers contribute 60% of the total sale traffic, ET Bureau reported. These non-metro shoppers favoured fashion and lifestyle products and categories including running shoes, men’s jeans, footwear, and suitcases saw a 45% increase in customers compared to the BBD sale in 2021.
“The segment saw three sarees and two kurtis being sold every second,” said Flipkart in a statement, the Press Trust of India reported. “As many as 250 shoes, 200 kid’s clothing and fashion wear, and seven t-shirts and four bottom-wear (jeans and trousers) were sold every minute.”
According to Flipkart, over 50% of its transacting sellers saw a 1.5 times increase in business during the sale event. Moreover, Flipkart sellers who crossed the Rs 1 crore revenue mark during the sale event more than doubled compared to its BBD sale last year.
A number of Flipkart’s direct-to-customer brands witnessed between 200% and 300% customer growth during the sale. Product categories which drove growth included grooming, lifestyle, food and nutrition, and travel, according to the business.
