Flipkart Green launched in January this year and retails products which are globally certified as ecologically or socially sustainable. The business is continuing to expand its product selection to cover multiple product categories and is also expanding the amount of information the store shares about sustainability, according to its website.

Flipkart’s wider sustainable targets include procuring 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040. As the business strives to make its operations more eco-friendly, Flipkart Green is designed to promote sustainable shopping on the consumer end.

“According to Flipkart’s consumer insights, one of the primary challenges faced by the buyers was that even if they were seeking to buy sustainably, the journey to do that across the products they buy was prohibitive and time-consuming,” said Flipkart’s director of sustainability Dharashree Panda, India Retailing reported. “With their continued trust in Flipkart over the years, they would also be reassured of the quality and authenticity of these products and labels on Flipkart Green.”
