Flipkart onboards new seller partners ahead of festive season sale

E-commerce marketplace Flipkart has recorded a growth of 220% in its seller base on its platform as compared to last year.

The new sellers have been onboarded from metros, second and third tier cities and beyond from across the country. With the addition of new sellers, around 11 lakh businesses will participate in its festive season sale event.

Commenting on the seller base, Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate officer at the Flipkart Group in a statement said, “Our seller partners, of which a large proportion are MSMEs and small businesses, play a crucial role in bringing valuable, unique, and affordable offerings to Indian consumers through Flipkart’s marketplace platform. Our constant endeavor is to help these businesses, which are the backbone of the Indian economy, leverage the power of e-commerce to expand their reach and serve the pan-India consumer base, gain access to best-in-class solutions, and drive their growth.”

“We will continue to work towards unlocking the growth potential for MSMEs across the country to access innovations and opportunities in an increasingly digital economy and help continue creating lakhs of new jobs in the country,” added Kumar.

Flipkart expects its upcoming festive sale event ‘Big Billion Days’ to be its largest-scale online sale yet and fuel its year-on-year growth with increased participation from shoppers, businesses, and delivery partners.
