Flipkart names Jeyandran Venugopal as chief product technology officer

Walmart-backed e-commerce platform Flipkart has elevated Jeyandran Venugopal to the position of chief product and technology officer.
 

In his new role, Venugopal will provide leadership and oversee the group’s technology, product, and engineering departments.
 
Flipkart has been investing heavily in technology for growth in India and has entrusted Venugopal to facilitate the prioritization of technology investments.

Commenting on the elevation of Venugopal, Kalyan Krishnamurthy group CEO of Flipkart in a statement said, “In our vision to solve for commerce through technology in India, our world-class technology leaders have played a key role and will continue to do in the future as well. We are strengthening our technology capabilities every day and Jey will play an anchor along with the most talented team that we have.”
 
“In his new role, he will continue to strengthen the team, tech investments and help implement new technologies at the pace and the scale that will enable us to become an even more agile, future-ready organization so that we can bring millions of new customers and sellers on our platform,” Krishnamurthy added.
 
Venugopal has over two decades of experience in leadership roles with top companies in the USA and India. He had joined the Flipkart Group two years back and previously served as the chief technology officer of Flipkart’s fashion portal Myntra, before moving to Flipkart in January 2019.
