Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart is banking on its low-priced items for the acquisition of its next set of customers as it looks to tap the tier 2, 3 and 4 cities for future growth.
Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Days’ (BBD) will commence on October 10 and conclude on October 14. The online retailer is looking to begin the acquisition of its next 100 million customers with this sale event and has doubled its inventory capacity by on-boarding new sellers to meet the set targets.
"We are now getting into the phase where we are talking about the next wave of customers. This BBD we will be tapping into the next 100 million customers apart from the first 100 million who have been shopping with us," Smrithi Ravichandran, senior director at Flipkart, told Moneycontrol.
"Because we have also launched recharges, beauty and the other low ASP (average selling price) categories, we are looking at ticket sizes right from Rs 90 to Rs 3-4 lakh. We are looking at the entire gamut. Even the recharges that you see we will have ground breaking offers which are truly unheard of in the market so far," she added.
To promote the sale event and connect with customers across the country, Flipkart has launched promotional activities with celebrities who have a pan India connect like Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Virat Kohli, and others.
