Flipkart launches billboard in New York, US to celebrate sale

E-commerce giant Flipkart has launched its first ever billboard in the US to promote its ‘End of Season Sale’ in New York. The billboard is located in the city’s central Times Square and is designed to promote the business, and Indian retail, to global audiences.

“At Flipkart, the ‘End of Season Sale’ is truly a festival for us and is an opportunity to bring joy to stakeholders across our ecosystem,” said Flipkart Fashion’s senior director Abhishek Maloo in a press release on June 5. “This season, the festival is the biggest fashion celebration and we decided to channel this into our advertising endeavours. For the first time ever, we’re extending the shopping euphoria across oceans, all the way to Times Square.”
 
Designed to provide a glimpse of India on the global stage, Flipkart’s billboard has been seen by thousands of locals and tourists alike. Flipkart’s online sale event features almost 200,000 sellers and over 10,000 brands and the business has witnessed a particular upswing in demand for fashion. At present, 40% of Flipkart’s new customers are purchasing goods in its fashion category. 

“Season after season, this event has received immense appreciation from customers across India, unlocking tremendous growth for the sellers and brands on our marketplace,” said Maloo. “It is our constant endeavour to provide an expansive range of the latest fashion apparel, footwear and accessories, made accessible by a seamless technology-led shopping experience. As India avails best value on the most sought after brands, we intend to enthral shoppers globally with India’s festive fervour.”
