Flipkart expects strong BBD sales amidst slowdown - Flipkart

Flipkart is confident it will clock good numbers during the six-day sale event and expects majority of the business to be generated from tier 2, 3 markets.

The company will focus on customer acquisition during the sale event and expects customers to splash the cash amidst slowdown due to the festive frenzy in the market ahead of key Hindu festivals Dussehra and Diwali, which are due this year in October.

“We believe e-commerce has the potential to boost the consumption story and bring about good economic activity. We do not see our sellers or consumers tightening their wallet strings, in fact, there is a great deal of festive frenzy that has kicked in," Flipkart’s group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy told PTI.

"A great deal of consumption appetite is coming from tier 2 and 3 markets as well and the scale of this year's TBBD will touch everyone. Our focus is on adding new customers and enhancing their experience while they are on the platform," he added.

Flipkart has already started promoting TBBD event in full swing with Bollywood and sports personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni.
