Flipkart first launched The Reach Project in February this year in a move to reach more Tier 3 locations with its pick-up services and encourage sellers in previously unserviceable regions to join the platform as sellers. The business has now added 800 new cities and towns to its list, ET Retail reported.

"The states that will see the biggest impact from this initiative include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Tripura,” said Flipkart in a statement, as reported by ET Retail. “In total, the new PIN code additions represent an almost 40% increase in serviceable cities pan-India. Particularly in Tier 3 and beyond cities and towns, the Reach Project has increased operations in serviceable PIN codes by almost 50%."

The business has also previously stated that increasing the number of MSME sellers on its platform will improve its offerings to customers in more rural locations and cut down its logistics and delivery costs. Flipkart also expects that onboarding more MSMEs will create a range of secondary jobs in Tier 3 locations.
