India’s leading online marketplace Flipkart has expanded its fashion private label portfolio with the launch of its new women’s western wear label Ann Springs.

Flipkart expands fashion private label portfolio with launch of ‘Ann Springs’ - Flipkart

Ann Springs is targeted at women in the age group of 22-25 and will feature over 150 styles starting at Rs 399 (approx $5). The brand plans to double its selection in the new few months.

"Women’s western wear is one of our fastest growing categories, where we have witnessed 100 percent year-on-year growth from Tier II cities and beyond. Women from smaller towns are clearly telling us that they want international styles tailored specifically to the Indian woman. This is where Ann Springs comes in. Our collection brings together the latest western styles at affordable prices," said Rishi Vasudev, head of fashion at Flipkart, in a statement

“Inspired by fast-fashion, Ann Springs couples trendiness with day-to-day functionality. We are confident the brand will create stickiness for our large women shopper base and solidify Flipkart Fashion as the top destination for all of India’s fashion needs,” he added.

Ann Springs is the sixth private label from the Indian e-commerce giant. It had earlier launched women’s footwear and accessories brand Cara Mia, Divastri and Anmi both private labels for women in ethnic wear, Metronaut for men and Miss & Chief for kids.

With fashion expected to become the largest product category and Indian e-tailing market to reach $80-100 billion by 2020, it is no surprise Flipkart is expanding its private label business as they offer higher profit margins due to reduced logistics costs.
