Flipkart executive Prakash Sikaria set to leave Shopsy

Flipkart senior executive Prakash Sikaria, head of the business’ new social commerce arm Shopsy, appears set to leave the company.

At a time when Flipkart has committed both time and resources to continuing to expand Shopsy’s user base, Sikaria is set to leave the business, anonymous sources told the Economic Times. However, Flipkart has not responded to requests for clarification on the matter.
Sikaria holds a number of roles at the business and is Flipkart’s senior vice president for growth and monetisation as well as head of Flipkart’s growth charter. Having worked for Flipkart for close to eight years, Sikaria has worked on a large number of projects at the business ranging from the launch of Flipkart’s reward system Super Coin to launching video commerce operations.
Flipkart first launched Shopsy in July, 2021 as a reselling platform covering product categories including fashion, cosmetics, general goods, and homeware before later launching groceries. Social commerce has recently experienced swift uptake in India which has led to big businesses including Amazon, Google’s Youtube, and Inmobi’s Glance making acquisitions in the space.
Experiencing fast growth, Sikaria had said in a statement last month that Shopsy should reach 100 million users by the end of 2022. Sikaria also reported that Shopsy had scaled up four times in the January 2022 to March 2022 quarter.
