Ram will report to Flipkart's chief technology officer, Jeyandran Venugopal, and is expected to create new shopping experiences for the company's next 100 million customers. Before joining Flipkart, Ram was with Instagram for about five years. Prior to that, he was with Amazon Prime Video.

Flipkart has also assured all its employees that there will be no pay cuts and all job offers will be honored by the firm amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The company’s CEO, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, gave the assurance to over 6,000 employees in a virtual town hall and also stated that Flipkart is safe and financially healthy and there is no cause to worry.

Flipkart has been investing heavily in recruiting and retaining its employees after the company saw an exodus of some key executives last year.

Flipkart has resumed its e-commerce services for essential products after receiving federal and state government assurances on the safety of its delivery staff and a hassle-free supply chain.

The company has also promised its delivery workers paid leave and additional benefits, in the chance the firm's employees could contract Covid-19 or are placed under quarantine.
