Fila opens in Hyderabad

On January 15, Fila opened a store at Sarath City Capital Mall in Hyderabad. The standalone franchise store is the brand’s first in the city.

The store opening is part of Fila’s plan to expand fivefold in India in the coming five years. The brand, which unveiled its retail expansion plan in December 2018, will expand through a network of standalone franchise stores across the country.

The Italian sportswear brand Fila has its India headquarters in Mumbai and has taken a unique approach to expanding in the country. Arguably more than any other international sportswear brand, Fila has tailored its expansion in India to fit local tastes and demographics. With its recent Norblack Norwhite collaborative collection, Fila mixed 90s-inspired sportswear silhouettes with the Indian brand’s signature bold prints and the collection won media acclaim.

The brand has also invested in its India marketing with the hashtag campaign “Fila India”. Working with local artists and fashion influencers, the brand is making a name for itself amongst India’s millennials.

Fila is also currently expanding its footwear product range in India and is launching Hero and Comfortx technologies.

The brand recently launched its Fila Original 2.0 Knit sneaker on Flipkart on January 16 and the shoe will subsequently be released in stores. Fila has a number of other stores in India including in Fort in Mumbai and in Pune.
