Ferragamo launches Pre-Fall 2023 collection

Italian fashion house Ferragamo unveiled on Wednesday its Pre-Fall 2023 collection.

As part of the collection, Ferragamo reinterprets its iconic designs, infusing them with a contemporary twist. The bustier dress, a minimalist silhouette, receives a golden touch with a rendition in foiled eelskin, while the Rainbow sandal, originally created for Judy Garland in 1938, is reimagined, symbolizing Ferragamo's enduring legacy. 

Additionally, the collection introduces new variations of the Ferragamo bag with cut-out details and a leather inner, as well as seasonal adaptations of the Wanda handbag, serving as timeless totems of the brand's evolution into a new era.

With a nod to Salvatore Ferragamo's iconic cowboy boots from the 1923 film The Covered Wagon the collection also introduces denim, pocket detailing, gingham prints, and belt-wrapped bags and loafers.

The collection launches with a campaign, captured by Tyler Mitchell, marking a first for the brand under the creative direction of Maximilian Davis. Dubbed 'A Fresh Perspective', it draws inspiration from the American Western and the brand's rich history.

“I want to explore what contemporary essentials are, from denim to eveningwear,” said Davis. “To take classic pieces in the everyday wardrobe and twist or subvert them with textures and materials that make them feel more modern, more playful and more unexpected.”

Mitchell captures the essence of the collection with his distinct style. Through his lens, he reframes the high-octane glamour of Hollywood with a relaxed, modern ease, perfectly aligning with the spirit of Ferragamo's latest collection.

“Tyler is someone who I’ve grown up with; we’re part of the same community and we’ve always spoken about collaborating,” added Davis. “There’s a simplicity and elegance to his work and the way that he captures people; a laid-back clarity which is never forced.”
