FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week to push digital fashion boundaries with NFTs, online showcases

The Fashion Design Council of India and Lakme Fashion Week’s second collaborative season kicked off on October 5 and promises to push the boundaries of digital fashion with an NFT marketplace and phygital shows.

Following the FDCI and Lakme Fashion Week’s first-ever joint edition last season, the collaborative fashion week plans to explore new ways to blend online and offline showcases and market fashion digitally. With Rise Worldwide and Nexa as sponsors, the fashion week will feature the Gen Next showcase for its design challenge, an emerging talent showcase in collaboration with Perl Academy, and a showcase in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme, the FDCI announced on Facebook.
A new edition this season is the Wazirx NFT Marketplace which will take place on October 6, the first full day of shows for the fashion week. The event, titled ‘The Indian NFT Revolution in Fashion’ will give designers the opportunity to sell NFTs for their designs and will explore what NFTs could mean for the Indian fashion industry.
Designers and brands which will feature in the fashion week include The Pot Plant, Jade by Monica and Karishma, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Eka, Gaurang, Abraham and Thakore, Payal Jain, Mishru, and Rina Dhaka, among others. The fashion week also announced Gaurav Gupta as its finale designer and he will showcase his latest collection on October 10 at 9am, which will be accompanied by a broadcast across the fashion week’s social media platforms including Facebook.
