“Currently, we can do 500 drops a week,” Newme’s founder Sumit Jasoria told Rest of World in an interview. “As we scale the business, we may be doing daily drops. We are planning to scale to 1,000 drops a week in the next 12 months.”

Newme aims to become the Shein of India, according to Jasoria, and is focusing on catering to the demands of non-metro shoppers to further penetrate these markets. As 70% of the business’ orders currently come from non-metro locations, Newme is using technology to tailor its offering to their needs.

To increase its design output, the business is looking for more factories to onboard around the Mumbai area. The business is looking for factories with a lower minimum order quantity in order to facilitate the wide range of designs it produces and limit excess stock.

“The first factory we signed was based on trust, and we said, if we do not meet your expectation, we will give your money back,” said Jasoria. “Interestingly, this low MOQ [minimum order quantity] is quickly turning out to be our unique selling point, as we are able to pay factories within one month. This helped us get seven factories, who all have a high desire for on-time payment. We have 10 more factories in the pipeline, which we plan to onboard as we scale the demand.”
