Fashion one of the top three categories for Amazon India

E-commerce major Amazon India said that its fashion category is one of the largest contributors in terms of customer acquisition for the company in the country.

Fashion also contributes significantly in terms of business generated by Amazon India making it one of the top three categories in terms of sales in India.
 
The company is betting big on fashion for future growth in the country and plans to ramp up its jewellery segment to boost sales in this vertical by partnering with leading jewellers from across India.

Amazon India offers over 100 jewellery brands including Malabar, Senco, MMTC and Kalyan Jewelers with a selection of over 5 lakh styles and 1 lakh designs.
 
“Overall fashion is one of the top three largest categories. It also contributes the largest in customers (acquisition). According to an IMRB study that used a sample size of 32000 people across 200 cities, Amazon Fashion had the highest order share as a single, standalone marketplace during the festive season in 2017,” Mayank Shivam, director, category management at Amazon Fashion told Moneycontrol.
 
Amazon had recently announced that its global seller program crosses $1 billion (Rs 6,965 crore) in e-commerce exports sales from India since its launch in 2015 with fashion again leading the way with strong sales.
 
Amazon India has been ramping up its fashion segment to take on its major rival Flipkart which claims to have a market share of over 75 percent along with its subsidiaries Myntra and Jabong.
