'The Last Dance of the Leaves', a photography exhibition curated and featuring work by Sunder Ramu, took place over the weekend from May 18 to 20. The exhibition featured an array of artists from many fields and one of these was the fashion designer Kaveri Lalchand.

Lalchand, known for her linen clothing and simple, flowy designs, performed a poetry reading at the exhibition. As poetry influences Lalchand’s designs, the performance was as connected to her own work as it was to the exhibition.

The exhibition, which focused on Ramu’s photographs of leaves, also included an installation on the same theme by Lekha Washington. Tejas Menon also performed live music at the event. Following its run in Mumbai. Ramu plans to take the exhibition to 20 cities in India.

Kaveri Lalchand is based in Chennai where she has a flagship for her brand By Kaveri in Poes Garden along with another in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda district. Lalchand produces her garments in Chennai and uses 100 percent pure linen.

The brand now has a staff of 60 people and its clothing also retails from international multi-brand boutiques in countries such as Turkey, the UK, France, Spain, Egypt, Abu Dhabi, and Guadalupe among others.
