Indian beauty brand Fae Beauty has developed and launched a sunscreen designed specifically for Indian skin tones as the cosmetics brand expands into skincare.

The vegan brand recently launched its first sunscreen product, named ‘SPF Juice’, Fae Beauty announced on Facebook. The sunscreen is designed for Indian skin so that it does not leave a white cast on the skin as many products do on darker skin tones, according to the brand.

The broad spectrum sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB rays and is factor 50 plus, designed to offer a high level of protection. The lightweight, non-greasy formula is named ‘juice’ after its watery, easy to apply and absorb texture, according to the brand.

Skincare and sun protection are fast growing product categories in India. Fae Beauty is also positioned in the clean beauty space, another fast growing sector, as the brand’s products are free from many chemicals and fragrances.

Entrepreneur Karishma Kewalramani launched Fae Beauty as a cruelty-free makeup brand in the summer of 2019 and the name is an acronym for “Free and Equal Beauty”. The brand retails from its dedicated e-commerce store and multi-brand beauty stores including Nykaa
