“World Environment Day is an opportunity for every enterprise to highlight their approach to environmental protection and to reaffirm their dedication to sustainability,” said a spokesperson for FabIndia in a press release. “Recognising the 2023 theme #BeatPlasticPollution- our unique sustainability offering, 'Shunya’ is the perfect blend of style and sustainability. It is created from recycled PET yarn, which has been upcycled from discarded single-use plastic bottles.”

The collection is designed to redefine the way people see style and environmental responsibility. ‘Shunya’ can be translated as ‘zero’, representing ‘zero waste’, and the collection is designed to be instrumental in reducing the amount of plastic that enters landfills across India.

“As the name signifies, this range is instrumental in reducing the amount of plastic that enters landfills,” said brand’s spokesperson. “We started the journey with carpets and rugs and now offer trendy bags and desktop accessories such as laptop sleeves. With vibrant geometric designs and innovative textures, each product tells a story of ecological preservation and inventive craftsmanship. Curated by our skilled artisans using traditional Indian techniques, the products are long-lasting, stain-resistant, and low-maintenance.”
