Ethnic wear and lifestyle brand FabIndia has relaunched its store in GK-1, New Delhi with a host of new features after the historic location had to shut its doors in 2019 due to building regulations.

FabIndia’s first-ever store launched in GK-1 in 1976, but had to shut down two years ago to adhere to local building regulations, the brand announced on Facebook. Now relaunched with new interactive features and products, the store is back in business this September.
“My first design studio was on top of the GK-1 FabIndia Store,” said Dipali Patwa, group head for brand, community, and marketing at FabIndia Group of Companies, The Prevalent India reported.
“This one in GK-1 was special as this was the first FabIndia store... Fast forward to 2021, while the last 18 months have been challenging for all, FabIndia’s resilience once again paves the path towards the future.”
The store’s reopening includes an entire floor dedicated to FabIndia’s latest launch FabNu, a line of women’s lounge and casual wear. The new sub-brand reimagines FabIndia’s signature Indian printed textiles as relaxed western and fusion wear designed to fit the ever popular work-from-home and two-mile trends. The store also houses an alteration station and café.
“We are excited to relaunch in the GK-1 market fondly known as the ‘FabIndia Market’ and cater to our loyalists as well as fab millennials and Gen Z who may have heard the stories of this special store which was the genesis of FabIndia retail,” said Patwa.
