FabIndia partners with ten brands to launch 'Artisan Relief Fundraiser'
Ethnic wear and lifestyle brand FabIndia has joined forces with 10 brands to raise funds for artisans suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic with its new initiative ‘Artisan Relief Fundraiser’.
FabIndia has brought together brands Okhai, Swaravow, A Tiny Mistake, KharaKapas, Suta, Bare Necessities- Zero Waste India, Forty Red Bangles, RangSutra Crafts, Gaatha- a Tale of Crafts, and Allthatgrass to raise funds for artisans, the brand announced on Facebook on June 1. The brand is running its fundraiser on GiveIndia’s platform and, as of Wednesday afternoon, has raised $14,355 (Rs 10.5 lakh) with 25 days left to go and a target of $102,390.
“Covid-19 has impacted the livelihoods of a huge number of artisans,” FabIndia announced on Facebook.
“With little or no working opportunities, they have lost access to their daily wages and are now struggling with no alternate income… We encourage you to join us and donate to raise funds and help the underprivileged communities in such challenging times.”
FabIndia has identified craftspeople and artisans across India who require financial assistance and has chosen a group of around 1,500 families and clusters to receive aid. The brand plans to give Rs 5,000 directly to each family through GiveIndia.
FabIndia has also launched a range of products to respond to new consumer needs during lockdown. As well as its new range of loungewear, the brand has begun retailing detox programmes, cleaning supplies, and face masks. The brand is currently running its online delivery service in areas where ‘non-essential’ deliveries are allowed by local regulations.
