The show was organised as a part of the SME Convention 2018 hosted by Ministry of Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) and was aimed at promoting the hand spun fabric of khadi in the luxury market.

India’s top fashion designers like Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Payal Jain and Poonam Bhagat showcased their innovative khadi collections at the show.

Commenting on the fashion show, Sunil Sethi, President FDCI in a statement said, “We would like to thank KVIC and Khadi India for believing in us. We will strive to promote Khadi through multi-faceted and meaningful drives which will bring to the fore its true potential and catapult it in the global arena.”

Through such initiatives the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is looking to create a “super premium” Khadi segment to increase sales of the sustainable textile and tap into the luxury market.

The MSME Ministry had earlier stated that it will team up with the Textiles Ministry and top fashion designers from the country in order to develop luxury products.
