FDCB presents TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week 2019

From February 23 to 25, the Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB) hosted TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week 2019 which featured a host of local and 11 international designers, three hailing from India.

For the latest edition of Bangladesh Fashion Week which just concluded at the International Convention Centre, Basundhara, in Dhaka, designers from across Asia flew in the showcase collections. Three of the 11 international designers- Kallol Datta, Paromita Banerjee, and Swati Kalsi came from India and showcased their latest collections in Bangladesh’s capital.

Swati Kalsi, who works with a focus on handcrafted textiles, their traditions, and the artisans who make them, showcased a collection that highlighted handmade crafts. Kalsi’s collection incorporated textile with hand-embroidered dots and abstract shapes. 

Paromita Banerjee presented a traditional wear collection that included handwoven sarees and fusion wear dresses and sets in rich yet rustic hues. Menswear also featured with kurtas and loose trousers. 

Other international designers included Sukajit Daengchai from Thailand, Merdi Sihombing from Indonesia, Kencho Wangmo from Bhutan, Aishath Shamla from the Maldives, Kanchana Thalpawila from Sri Lanka, Edric Ong from Malaysia, Faiza Samee from Pakistan, and Anu Shrestha from Nepal who specialises in hand-painting silks.

Bangladeshi designers that participated included Chandana R Dewan, Humaira Khan, Sarah Karim, Maheen Khan, Rifat Rahman, Tashfia Ahmed, Sadiya Mishu, Musarrat Rahman, and Kuhu Plamondon.
