On Earth Day, April 22, Everledger launched a new platform “to meet customer demand for environmental footprint information about diamonds,” Retail Technology Innovation Hum reported.

The platform is designed to allow diamond retailers, brands, manufacturers, and miners to both map and offset the carbon footprint of the diamonds they work with.

“Earth Day is the right day to launch this new solution, as it has the aims of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals at its core,” said Everledger’s CEO Leanne Kemp, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council reported on its website.

The platform will be made available for coloured gemstones, clothing, and wine, among other asset classes in the near future, according to Everledger.

Atit Diamond Corporation has also launched an ethically sourced collection titled ‘Rock Solid Diamond Collection’ which uses blockchain technology to trace the origin of the diamonds in the collection to ensure they were procured in an ethical manner.

“We are committed to producing the smallest environmental impact possible so that we can preserve our quality of life for present and future generations,” said Atit Diamond Corporation’s vice president Atit Mehta, the GJEPC reported.
