Emami has received the WHO-GMP and Certificate of Pharmaceutical Products (CoPP) accreditations for its two plants located in Vapi and Masat, Gujarat ET Bureau reported. The business now has accreditations for over 40 Ayurvedic products, where previously it had accreditations for only 11 products.

The business’ director, Harsha V. Agarwal, shared that these accreditations are very important as they are mandatory for registration in many countries, ET Bureau reported.

“It is due to this reason that many Indian companies despite having a good number of products are not able to export Ayurvedic healthcare products outside India,” said Agarwal.

The brand aims to tap into the increased demand for Ayurvedic and natural beauty and wellness products, brought about in part due to an increased focus on health due to the ongoing pandemic. Agarwal believes that the new accreditations will give the brand an edge in the export market.

Founded in 1974, Emami Limited has a large portfolio of fast moving consumer goods brands with a focus on the wellness and beauty sectors. Brands include Navratna, Kesh King, and Fair and Handsome, among others.
