Emami acquires Dermicool from Reckitt for Rs 432 crore

​Fast-moving consumer goods major Emami Ltd has acquired Dermicool, one of the leading brands in the prickly heat and cool talc category, from Reckitt for a total consideration of Rs 432 crore ($56.7 million).

With this acquisition, Emami aims to be a leader in this category as it also owns the brand Navratna. Dermicool currently has 20 percent market share of the segment.
 
Commenting on the acquisition, Harsha V Agarwal, director of Emami Limited in a statement said, “We are very happy to announce the acquisition of Dermicool brand which offers great synergy with our existing businesses and is a perfect strategic fit. It will strengthen our presence to make us #1 in the prickly heat powder and cool talc category. With increasing global warming and soaring summer temperatures, such problem solution niche products are poised for strong growth in future.”

Earlier this month, Emami had acquired 19 percent equity stake in TruNativ F&B Private Limited, a nutrition company for an undisclosed amount.
 
Emami is one of India's leading FMCG companies engaged in the manufacturing of personal care and healthcare products.
