On Thursday, Ekaya set up shop in Kala Ghoda and launched its latest womenswear collection “The Crossing” in-store. The new 3,000 square foot store has dedicated sections for bridal wear, ready-to-wear, suits, and a number of the brand’s recent collaborative collections.

A gifting section also features in-store along with an art installation made from folded textiles by origami artist Ankon Mitra. A shop-in-shop for the brand’s subsidiary Ekaya Thaan displays a range of brightly hued textiles designed to be used to create couture pieces.

“Kala Ghoda’s historical and cultural landscape is a natural home for us, for Ekaya represents some truly iconic, ever-evolving chapters in the narrative of one of the world’s oldest living cities,” the brand’s founder and CEO Palak Shah told Vogue India about the store. “We want our consumers in Mumbai to cherish their Ekaya pieces forever.”

Palak Shah launched Ekaya’s first flagship store in New Delhi in 2012 and subsequently opened in Ahmedabad in 2013 and Hyderabad in 2017. The brand also retails from its dedicated e-commerce store and participates in pop-up events such as with The Silk Route in Singapore and Mono in Kolkata.
