Siblings Palak Shah and Aarohi Shah have joined forces to launch a collaboration between their respective brands, Ekaya Banaras, and Arohi. The collaborative collection mixes handloom heritage with a bold modernity.

The Arohi x Ekaya collaborative line has launched on Ekaya’s e-commerce store with a range of sarees and fusion wear designs, Ekaya announced on Facebook. The collection features sheer blouses paired with cigarette pants, striped sarees, organza kurtas, and fusion-style designs such as a kurta, which resembles a coat dress in vibrant magenta.

“The drapes are very modern with structured vertical lines,” Ekaya’s Palak Shah told the New Indian Express. “The collection comprises experimental textiles and silhouettes keeping in mind the ever-growing demand for easy-to-wear modern saris and ready-to-wear clothing, combining craftsmanship and attention to detail.”

The collection’s main motif is bold stripes, rendered in a modern colour palette of greys with more jewel tones also thrown in. Arohi x Ekaya mixes Arohi’s experimental and more deconstructed aesthetic with Ekaya’s rich handloom heritage.

“It has been a very trying time,” said Palak Shah. “But as a design house, we decided to keep working remotely. This has added to a range of innovative designs that we will bring forward in the next few months. Unless you keep reinventing yourself, patrons will lose interest in your products. You always have to be one step ahead.”
