Ekaya and Kunal Rawal collaborate on menswear collection
Womenswear and textile brand Ekaya has collaborated with menswear designer Kunal Rawal for the first time ever. The two brands have launched a men’s occasion wear line named ‘Neo-Traditional Grooms’.
Ekaya and Kunal Rawal’s collaborative line has launched in time for the winter festive season and is designed to offer a creative, modern take on traditional Indian crafts and aesthetics, Ekaya announced on Facebook. The collection features rich hues mixed with more delicate ivory, all with a striking metallic sheen. Tailored sherwanis and trousers have a relaxed yet regal feel and subtle detailing with geometric designs references Rawal’s design signatures.
Rawal’s menswear designs have been rendered in Ekaya’s signature brocade textiles, a fabric type rarely used in men’s occasion wear, according to the brand. By using an unexpected textile for traditional style looks, the collection plays with ideas of masculinity, luxury, and texture.
“Introducing Ekaya's first ever unique collaboration with the Indian designer Kunal Rawal to create an all new aesthetic language in handcrafting luxury occasion-wear for men,” Ekaya announced on Facebook, debuting the collaborative line. “Expertly woven, meticulously embroidered, the perfect balance of traditional and contemporary, for the modern groom.”
The collection has launched on Ekaya’s e-commerce store and in its flagship stores. The brand also recently launched womenswear collection ‘Ambush’, designed to offer a bold, modern take on sarees and lehengas.
