Eka Design Studio’s founder Rina Singh joined JD Institute director Akshra Dalal, journalist Priya Rana, and IIID president elect BK Tanuja to discuss her design career and the future of fashion with JD Institute’s graduating class. Singh shared her business experiences and gave advice to JD Institute’s new batch of graduates looking to enter the fashion industry.

JD Institute was also recently awarded the title of Best Design Institute at the National Glory Awards to celebrate its 31 years as a design educator. The award was presented by Bollywood celebrity Madhuri Dixit and the ceremony took place from December 4 to 5 in Goa.

Rina Singh founded Eka in 2011, as a textile-focused womenswear brand. With loose silhouettes and a refined take on femininity, the brand is known for its free-form dresses and relaxed separates. Singh also collaborated with Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo earlier in the year and designed a collection of simple kurtas to mark the brand’s brick-and-mortar entry into India.

On December 16, JD Institute opened admissions for its 2020 batch of fashion, jewellery, interior, and photography design students.
