Eight designers to showcase at sustainable fashion day at LFW Summer Resort 2019

Eight fashion designers have been shortlisted to showcase at the sustainable fashion day of the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer Resort 2019 on January 31 as part of the Circular Design Challenge.

The eight designers were selected from over 900 participants from over 30 cities in India. The circular design challenge aims to promote leadership in sustainability and the designers will have to create sustainable designs for the show.
 
The finalists for the event are Aiman Sabri, Aman Singh, Bhaavya Goenka, Poornima Pande & Stefano Funari, Kanika Ahuja, Pooja Monga, Seerat Virdi and Kriti Tula.

Commenting on the initiative, Vipul Shah, COO of Petrochemicals, Reliance Industries Ltd, in a statement said: "We are confident that the Circular Design Challenge will provide enormous opportunities for budding concept creators, fashion designers, and the entire textile value chain to exhibit their innovative ideas and designs with a focus on circularity and sustainability.
 
“The initiative will help the entire Indian textile value chain to become a global leader in ingraining circularity in their business strategy and operations,” he added.
 
The Circular Design Challenge is a collaborative initiative of Reliance Industries Ltd's R | Elan 'Fashion for Earth', the UN in India and Lakme Fashion Week (LFW).
 
The winner of the event will get Rs 20 lakh ($27,935) to create their own fashion label and will also get an opportunity to exclusive showcase it at the LFW Winter/Festive 2019.
