International e-commerce marketplace Ebay and the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council have partnered with the aim of offering jewellery retailers cheap international shipping rates to boost global sales.

The GJEPC hopes to boost international jewellery sales on Ebay with cheap shipping and Ebay hopes to onboard sellers - GJEPC - India- Facebook

“Expand your export business with GJEPC and Ebay partnership,” the GJEPC announced on Facebook on June 27. “Avail of the economical shipping costs.” With the new tie-up, international jewellery shipping starts at Rs 323 and the GJEPC describes it as fast, affordable, and safe.

The Ebay ‘Global Shipping Platform’, also referred to as the ‘EGS Platform’, provides users with access to independent, third-party logistics services providers. The EGS Platform’s terms and conditions, linked by the GJEPC, state that the platform exists to direct Ebay sellers to shipping services but that Ebay is in no way connected to these services and does not hold any responsibility for them.

The EGS Platform is designed to enable Ebay sellers to ship goods outside of India, according to the terms and conditions on Ebay’s website. Shipping services procured from the EGS Platform can only be used to ship goods sold by the Ebay account in question.

The GJEPC works to boost India’s jewellery exports and make Indian products more competitive globally. This partnership is designed to make Indian jewellery more accessible to international buyers on Ebay with the wider goal of boosting exports.
