East India Fashion Week to showcase 25 designers for Far-East theme

East India Fashion Week will hold its second season on December 15 and 16. This season’s theme is “The Gateway to Fashion Far East” and the event will feature 25 designers from the area.

The upcoming edition of East India Fashion Week will take place at Vivanta by Taj in Guwahati. The event will take place in association with the Fashion and Design Council of Northeast India and Panache Group and will celebrate the region’s fashion industry.

The first edition of the week took place in January this year and featured 26 designers and 50 models. This season 25 designers and 60 models will participate and the actor Barsha Rani Bishaya will be the event’s showstopper.

Two prominent buyers from Mumbai, Feroza Dalal and Heena Raj, will attend the show to scout out up-and-coming designers. Lakme Fashion Week’s stylist Nishankh Sainani will also come from Mumbai to style the event along with Lakme Fashion Week’s runway director Neeraj Gaba who has choreographed the grand finale.

Designers who will showcase their designs this season include the husband and wife design duo Purbani and Sameer who launched their label in Surat. The Purbani and Sameer brand specialises in fusion wear and uses a number of handcraft techniques such as dabka, nakshi, jarkan, kardana, and kundan. Other designers include Jennu Doyom, Charlee Mathlena, Dolly Gogoi, A Ngamnoi, Gitu Borah Chetia, Arita Kashyap, and Rajesh Jhunjhunwala among others.
