The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts will hold a series of training programmes in seven Indian states to develop handicraft skills in the areas including embroidery and crochet.

The EPCH will hold training programmes in seven Indian states before the end of March 2020 - EPCH- Facebook

The EPCH aims to increase handicraft skills in a number of Indian states to help augment the quality of products and in turn increase exports. The proposed programme will take place in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, and Uttar Pradesh and should be completed before March 31, 2020, the EPCH posted on its website.

The training will cover a number of handicrafts skills, many of which pertain to the fashion industry. These include embroidery, crochet, metalwork, bamboo crafts, and wood crafts among others. Training will also be given on job roles in the sector. The EPCH is currently looking for organisations to partner with it to facilitate the training.

The EPCH has over 11,000 exporter members across India and works to increase exports in the handicrafts sector. As well as skills development programmes, the EPCH also offers design support, infrastructure developments, and marketing opportunities. The organisation takes part in international fairs and exhibitions including the upcoming German trade shows Ambiente 2020 and Heimtextil 2020.
