Drawn has made its first foray into winter wear in collaboration with the Aravani Art Project. The womenswear brand has created an exclusive floral jacket designed to celebrate trans women. 
 

For its latest artist collaboration, Drawn has joined forces with trans- and cis-women run art collective Aravani Art Project, the brand announced in a press release on December 26. The result is a brightly coloured, wrap-style winter jacket featuring a floral print and geometric border. 

“In this collaboration with Drawn we collected 16 different favourite flowers of  16 different transgender people,” said Aravani Art Project’s director Poornima Sukumar in a press release. “Flowers have a big significance in the space of  being Gender fluid and we love associating with flowers on several occasions.”

Rhea Bjattachayya launched Drawn in 2020 with the aim of mixing art and fashion to create wearable art in collaboration with numerous modern artists. In a bid to reduce waste, the brand follows a pre-order production model. As well as retailing in India, the brand is also for sale in France and America with retail platform Flying Solo. 
 
“When the idea of combining 16 different flowers by 16 transgender people for  this print collaboration was sent to us, the first silhouette that came to mind was a warm quilted jacket, one that represented a feeling of love, warmth and  acceptance,” said Sukumar. “A safe space that felt like home.”
