Sustainable fashion brand Doodlage has collaborated with eco-print business Thaapo to launch a capsule collection for the festive season.

The new collection, described by Thaapo as “clothes that heal”, features relaxed silhouettes designed for celebrating festivities intimately at home, as most people will be this year. The colour palette of turmeric yellow, grey, coral pink, and ecru features on loose trousers, kimonos, shirts, tunics, sarees, and dresses for women and accessories, including ties and pocket squares for men.

The collaborative collection is made from textiles hand-dyed in natural colours by Thaapo. Neem leaves have been used to print impressionistic leaves on the garments for a subtle effect, which is complimented by Doodlage’s signature floaty tailoring.

“We collect fallen leaves and flowers and capture their form and colour on our fabric, preserving their essence on our final garments,” shared Thaapo on its Facebook page.

“It’s time we start buying clothes wisely, and not complain later,”said Thaapo. “Invest in clothes which will grow old with you.”

Lockdown and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has added fuel to the increasing popularity of sustainable fashion in India. With a backdrop of international trade disruption and struggling local businesses, more shoppers in the bridge-to-luxury section of the market are valuing local, sustainable products. The Union Government is also urging consumers to shop local, especially in the apparel and textile sectors.
