Dockers partners with Ace Turtle to enter India

Clothing brand Dockers will enter India through a partnership with retail business Ace Turtle which plans to open stores in Indian metros. The Levi Strauss & Co division will expand in the country with a fast-paced, omni-channel strategy.

“When we were revising the strategy for [the] brand around three years ago, one of the pieces of the strategy was to grow internationally,” said Dockers’ CEO Natalie MacLennan, ET Bureau reported. “And we do see Asia and particularly India as one of the key components of that. It may have taken a while but it is certainly the right time to enter India.”
Locations where Ace Turtle plans to open its first Dockers stores include Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru for the initial expansion phase, the Economic Times reported. The business eventually plans to expand Dockers’ brick-and-mortar presence to other Indian cities, seeing a large opportunity for growth with the label.
“We have seen consumers returning back to stores,” said MacLennan. “But they are looking for the experience because if it’s not a great experience, many of them can shop online.”
Dockers is slated to be available in India from early 2024 and will also retail in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as part of the partnership. Ace Turtle has set aside a significant amount of funds to invest in bringing Dockers to South Asia.
